FAQ > General Stuff > What's "Pop Goes Catholicism" about?

I'm Jerry Harrington, Director of Catholic Media Resources. I'm a stay-at-home dad who used to be a Youth Minister and Director of Religious Education.

I'm a big fan of popular media: movies, TV, music, the web. I'm also a cradle Catholic who believes that Roman Catholicism has the best take on the Truth, the way the universe works, and all that jazz. Thus, it seemed pretty natural to me to start bringing the two together.

Pop Goes Catholicism attempts to help Catholics

  • Recognize their Faith (showing ways that Catholicism can be revealed or related to popular media),
  • Grow their Faith (by providing scripture and catechism references relevant to the topic at hand), and
  • Apply their Faith (through Discussion Questions that challenge you to live the faith in daily life).

I do that in a couple of ways: Resources and Reflections. By Resources, I refer to formal faith formation tools that would help anyone achieve the three catechetical goals above (recognize, grow, and apply the faith). The majority of PGC Resources take the form of Pop Goes Catholicism Resource Sheets.

Each Pop Goes Catholicism Resource Sheet is a one page pdf download file available for purchase. Learn more about Resource Sheets here. Also, there are Subscriptions available that allow you to receive these sheets directly in your email inbox.

With selected resources I also offer a free audio version featuring most of the content of the sheet. You can either listen on the website, download the file, or subscribe via iTunes.

Reflections are everything else. Learn about them here.
