Resource Summary

In the first of a long series of resources from this debut album of hip-hop rap artist B.o.B. (AKA Bobby Ray), the protagonist of the song admits that after chasing skirts (seeking pleasure first) he's ready to set that aside and be devoted to just one woman because the player behavoir only led to loss and emptiness. Looking at that devotion symbolically, we're supposed to place God at the top of our priorities and loyalties; our faith likewise teaches the futility of pleasure-seeking as a priority.

Resource Summary

In this excellent remake of the classic 80s movie, the boy receiving training from the old maintenance man (this time named Dre and Mr. Han respectively) walks in on Mr. Han destroying the car he's been rebuilding for months. When asked why, Mr. Han tells Dre that his wife and son were killed in a car accident in which he was driving and breaks down weeping. Rather than run away, Dre stays with Mr. Han in his pain and suffering. He then pulls Mr. Han out of it with a connection both physical and personal. Likewise, we Christians are called to walk with others even through pain and sorrow, using our connectedness to help heal sorrow and grief.
